Jenneen Marie’s board work and experience supporting local community art organizations, combined with her programming and educational background, perfectly complement her efforts to support community-building through artistic initiatives and arts administrative supports.
Jenneen Marie holds a Graduate Certificate in Arts Administration and Cultural Management from Humber College. She received her BFA from OCADU with a major in Criticism and Curatorial Practices. She participated in an independent studio placement at the Winchester School of Art, UK. Her writing has been featured in One Hour Empire, vol. 2 and The Curated Histories of the Automotive Tower. She was selected into the Exhibitions Internship Program for the inaugural Toronto Biennial of Art. From 2019-2022, she was awarded a fellowship at the Artscape Daniels Launchpad.
As an Arts Administrator, she contributes to the community through board work. From 2020-2022, she served as Secretary of the Board for Lakeshore Arts. In 2022, she began serving as Secretary of the Board at Critical Distance a Centre for Curators, where she currently remains in the executive role. In 2020, she joined the Neilson Park Creative Centre Board of Directors as the Secretary of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. In 2022, she accepted the role of Vice President of the Board of Directors at Neilson Park Creative Centre. In 2024, she moved into the role of President of the Board of Directors at Neilson Park Creative Centre. During this time, she has maintained an active role on the Neilson Park Creative Centre Financial Development Committee.
As a Public Art Project Manager, she has managed public art projects with the City of Toronto, Cultural Hotspot, Doors Open, Nuit Blanche, StreetARToronto, Mural Routes, the Toronto Zoo, and Yonge-Dundas Square. She supports the programming of public and community-engaged art projects across Toronto.
As a Mural Artist, she has created murals with the Doors Open, StreetARToronto, Mural Routes, the Toronto Zoo, the Bellbox Mural Project, Arts Etobicoke, the Village of Islington BIA, and KJ Bit. Currently, she is participating in Art on Barton, an immersive group mural installation.
As a Textile Artist, her work in textile-based media investigates the connections between memory and fabrics. The work attempts to capture and preserve memories, it addresses notions of souvenir-ship, conservation, and keepsakes. Additionally, the work contains an embedded message around repurposing materials, sustainability, and supporting local markets.
As an Arts Instructor, she has many years of experience as an art instructor and community educator. She has also instructed workshops with Neilson Park Creative Centre, the Children’s Art Studio Inc., Lakeshore Art, SMART, and the Clinton Street Public School.
